Nothing puts an audience to sleep quicker, besides a monotone voice, than a static position. We need to keep moving and use some gestures to emphasize points. If possible, remove the podium so you cannot hide behind it. Even something as simple as taking a drink of water can be helpful.

3 Move with confidence

Your movement can influence how your audience perceives you and your message. To project confidence and credibility, you should move at a moderate pace, smoothly and gracefully in straight lines towards the audience with your chest open and shoulders back, rather than too quickly, abruptly, in curves or zigzags away from them with your arms crossed or head down.

Stand tall, head kept level, lean into the audience, with a little movement, then take a step back. Draw them into the action, just moving side to side is not something we do in one-on-one interactions, so try to keep that incorporated into the event.

Your gestures, postures, facial movements/expressions can be just as relevant to the content of your speech as timing is to a stand-up comedian. If in doubt about how you should move - with confidence, purpose and relevance - go watch some of your favorite stand-up comedians and take notes on how they do it. It's all calculated even if it looks spontaneous.

When we interact with others in a social setting, we are generally animated using our gestures to emphasize a point, keep in mind a presentation is a two-way exchange of Infromation.

A simple act of taking a pause and then making eye contact with someone in the audience then starting back up with the action as a point may also draw them in. Ex. Ask a question and then look around the room, like you are waiting for an answer, lean forward and turn your head a little, like you are trying to hear something. Watch the audience look around and wonder what is next...
