Model monitoring is Important!! I have deployed both closed loop as well as open loop retraining architectures as the the requirements on GCP environment. Open Loop is where the monitoring job sends alert to the stake holder and then the stakeholder will take action accordingly, this is available as the managed service from Google. Closed loop is something where we skip the Managed Service and use out statistical and Python knowledge and code the monitoring job from scratch, where drift and skew is monitored using KL& JS divergence(Continous), Z score(Individual samples) and Chi Square(categorical) and the retraining job is triggered based on result scores. Cloud Functions, and Composer can be leveraged to execute such tasks with ease.

I feel compelled to add that from whatever practical industry examples I've seen, Time Series Forecasting is perhaps the messiest and most difficult branch of ML there is - actual prediction quality on real-world data is at a premium, and pretty much every Time Series project has an element of adjusting the goalposts, being satisfied with some significant window of error, and maintaining that the ground truth is within this window, as opposed to getting our predictions too close to the actual ground truth values, which are often extremely unpredictable. So expectations need to be calibrated accordingly.
