How can you use lean production to maximize capacity utilization?

One of parameter that we use to align customer demand and internal process is takt time and cycle time process, takt time is available time that customer "give" to produce product and cycle time is total time that we use to produce 1 product at a time. Lean manufacturing if we can set up cycle time process is same with takt time.

Lean methodology help to achieve the standard speed of machin by reducing the waiting time in between two machine and help to reduce waiting time. Also help on reduction on change over time from one product to another that also reduce the change over time helping on improved capacity utilisation. Lean principal is reduce the wastage and non value added activity. This way capacity utilisation is improved by adapting lean methodology

Based on my experience, in many manufacturing companies the approach is still often top down and many people in the workforce feel that they don’t have a voice. When management displays the directive leadership style (often due to lack of training/awareness), they can damage relationships, instil fear in people and they reduce people’s ability to think for themselves. Fearful people ?? are wasting a lot of mental energy, which leads to lack of engagement and reduced productivity. The directive leadership style creates co-dependency and chances are people won’t show any initiative to make things better. Of course, nobody knows better how to improve the job than the people who are doing it.

1.First of all , capacity utilisation is based on demand. More the demand more the capacity utilisation. So maximisation of capacity is linked to maximising demand. Lean is meant for efficient use of capacity. This means that using less resources, I will produce what is required in less time by reducing or eliminating all 7 wastes. 2.Capacity enhancement using lean is possible. Suppose the installed capacity is 100 (JPH)-Jobs Per Hour. Using Lean by avoiding wastes i can increase this to for example 120 JPH. So Lean,through elimination of 7 wastes,can be used -to utilise the installed design capacity efficiently by reducing resources and time. -to enhance installed capacity. It is not meant for maximising capacity utilisation.
