As far as i believe the main benefit that can come out of using Java for ROS will be its Cross-Platform Compatibility. Java's platform independence makes it suitable for developing ROS applications that need to run on different operating systems. ROSJava applications can run on various platforms supported by Java, including Linux, Windows, and macOS.

These include rosjava, which is the official Java implementation of ROS that provides a core library for creating ROS nodes, topics, services, parameters, and messages in Java. The best use-case I can think of is that with Java's extensive ecosystem of libraries, we can leverage this for various robotics tasks. For example, libraries for computer vision (OpenCV), machine learning (Weka, Deeplearning4j), and data processing can be integrated into ROSJava applications to enhance functionality.
