When you share information in a blog remember: it is not personal. A blog is meant to share knowledge, ideas, information, but these inevitably mix up with opinions, preferences, prejudices, judgments, and biases. It's important to keep it professional and have an open mind to address the feedback and embrace it as a form of different angles on the same topic that enrich an argument and not as a declaration of war. Take as much as you can from the feedback and pass it through your own personal "mind-filter" and benefit from it (a "second opinion" is also useful to have). Also when you're on the other end, you'll do the same and not trust or agree blindly what someone is saying. That doesn't add value to the blogs discussion.

Well, writing blogs and articles is more of passion than rather building your network. I usually write articles related to Cybersecurity for enjoyment and pass important and interesting information to my fellows, that's what matters at long last.

A common I hear from people for not writing blogs is that "they aren't doing anything new." This does not matter! Even if other people have written about the same topic, your experience and perspective is unique and might help someone working on a similar problem. If you're looking for blog content, I recommend thinking about the what you've worked on over the last ~year and try to come up with a couple of potential topics based on your work. Even better, the next time you're starting a project write little notes down for yourself along the way. This makes writing the blog a lot easier. Early this year I wrote two blogs (leif.substack.com) about getting involved with the infosec community through blogs, podcasts, and public speaking.

I have yet to learn myself to not overthink writing blogs. I can write long posts anytime but can never convince myself to write a blog because I feel like it has to be more formal and I need to set aside more time to write a blog. But really I can turn my posts into blogs and it might be easier for future reuse content repurposing when needed. In short we don’t need to overthink it, it can be in any topic of interest and something that adds value. Write about what you do, or when you need to share an opinion, and never rewrite popular news content as virtue signaling. If you work on something, it always gives you a unique perspective. But when you don't -- don't write, or write about your personal life instead. Post a cute photo of your cat. At least one could see a person behind the writing, not the need to write "something". Too many blogs have a negative value by reducing the signal-to-noise ratio on the internet.

The best way is to write your own blogs on information security. Doesn't matter what stage of career you are. Most of the Information security experts, for some reason, do not write or create their own content despite learning so much everyday on the ground. Most of the great blogs on this today are written by non-infosec folks. Information security professionals must learn to challenge the tranditional thoughts, capture them through their blogs and share with others. There has been over-reliance on certifications and frameworks (asssuming that everything mentioned there is accurate)
