How can you use handshakes to establish trust and respect in a business setting?

I totally agree, but old school methods are getting less common. When I refer to this,a had shake and a pat on your shoulder, scares me these days.. I’ve just had it done to me and lost nearly ￡50k.. and at the end I didn’t get get paid.. you get to know who the good guys are, and it will not change me and to think everyone is the same.. everyone is different.. good the bad and the ugly!!!! I always find out the hard way though ??

Best idea is to observe and copy. It is best do be the last one to greet somebody, because you will be able to see their reactions to different greetings from the people before you. Wait for your turn and do the same

If you don't offer your hand first (as should be polite and respectful in many situations: with older people, with superior, women, people who don't like contacts, etc..), you can get information from how they do it, and act accordingly. Be delicate when requested (for instance older people often suffer arthrosis but they don't like to show it). Don't be too energic even with younger (a strong and vigorous handshake is often considered just a cliché). Let always your gesture be a genuine acceptance of this ancestral greeting, accompanying him with a smile.
