As an illustrator, what I often do is analyze an illustration or graphic designer project from another artist, then try to copy it without looking at the tutorial. This makes me think harder and more creatively to replicate other artists graphic styles or effects in my own way.

If I see something I like I archive a copy to remember the technique-not to copy because of respecting the other artist’s work and copyright issues. And I often note colors I like.
