My granddaughter graduated from an online school with an associate degree & 4.9GPA. The graduated LSU with outstanding GPA! She attends Nursing School here & will have her BSN in a year &1/2. She will then go on to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I fully support online schooling. Typically these students don’t want the distractions found in the public school system!

Attention Loss & Distraction are the big enemy with digital learning. It is harder and harder for us to concentrate with our devices temptingly in front of us, so your session design must have engagement as it's foundation. Continuous engagement and interaction is more important than ever, and students should be brought into the learning actively. Variety and novelty are also key, with the need to pattern interrupt and combat learning fatigue constantly. This is constant challenge, but multi-media learning resources and technology tools like games are key solutions to leverage.

Shake up your style with debates, team activities, workshops, games, projects, leveraging pre-work and breakouts, to embed as much active learning as possible. There are so many great tools for this, so don't be afraid to experiment and try, and this makes the journey fresher and more interesting for student and teacher.
