How can you use feedback to customize your workshop?

In the context of sales training customization as an example, start by assessing current salespeople skill levels and identifying their skills gaps. Review data on their past sales performance, such as conversion rates and revenue figures, and understand their common obstacles to closing sales and handling objections. This also includes inquiring about their self-assessed confidence levels in customer facing scenarios. Take the initiative to inquire about their preferred learning styles and any specific topics they feel are crucial for the training. This data can then be applied to the sales training workshop to address their unique challenges, learning needs and provide a more valuable and specialized sales learning experience.

To make your workshop better, you need to collect feedback from different parts of the workshop - before, during, and after. Feedback is like information that helps you see what's working and what's not. You can use this information to make the workshop even better. To do this, you can use tools like spreadsheets, dashboards, or analytics platforms to keep track of the feedback and see how you're doing.

It's vital to establish a feedback loop that links the pre-workshop, during-workshop, and post-workshop phases. This loop involves continuously collecting, analyzing, and applying feedback.

Collecting different types of feedback is also key to an effective feedback loop. Broaden out beyond asking questions in questionnaire format and implement quantifiable feedback using Likert scales, opportunities for attendees to share qualitative feedback via open-ended questions or recorded interview feedback, test learning with quizzes or requests for demonstrations of the content, and ensure that the data can be cross-referenced.

One of the key things that I do after I built the training but before i deliver it, is I review the training with the key stakeholders. I do this a week ahead of the delivery date. I ask that the champions be included in these review process since they are usually the coworkers who will provide on going support or are the people everyone turns to for those "quick" questions. I review this with the stakeholders to ensure that everything is included that is needed, that we are hitting the key areas that are needed, and to explain why we may not have included certain other areas. This way, the training or workshop has the stakeholders buy in before we even begin.
