Given that speed to market is a crucial first step in th eculmination of invention to innovation, one can leverge every possibilities to do so. Analogies from any scenarios may be of help here. In a recent lecture to a team of agricultural innovation startups, I had mentioned this as 'learn from other disciplines' and quoted how can they do so with an example from the recent launch of Apple's Macbook. Any analogy that can inspire the team to move faster and reliably in the 'last mile' will be of help.

Utilizing analogies effectively involves tailoring comparisons to the audience, choosing relevant and accurate references, and keeping explanations simple. Provide context for the analogy, explaining how the similarities relate to the concept being conveyed. Encourage critical thinking by prompting the audience to analyze and discuss the analogy. Be mindful of cultural sensitivities and avoid overusing analogies to maintain their impact. Practice and refine your use of analogies, incorporating feedback to become adept at selecting and delivering effective comparisons.

Use plain English. In other words, describe a complicted and complex subject with plain and understandable phrases for the "common-Joe"... Easy said than done. We have to REALLY thoroughly know the subject ourselves before we can formulate easy-to-understand phrases. this part is the key and most difficult part.

With this approach, one also leads by example as opposed to simply preaching.

Similarly, in AI, neural networks (nodes) are analogous to the neurons in the brain. The student may or may not be aware of coding or even programming. However, they might be aware of the field of neurology and what neurologists do. This is why analogies are important. In R&D, we explain the most complex things by breaking them down.

R&D is the base behind any product or process. If the base has a weak structure, the remaining product will not take much time to fall down. For this reason, avoiding pitfalls and making sure correct analogies are used in correct situations is vital to the structural integrity of a concept. Pitfalls to Avoid: 1. Adding personal opinions: One should stick to facts, data, and evidence without biasing the audience and adding personal beliefs. 2. Providing inappropriate analogies to the audience: Knowing the age group, demographic, and target audience is crucial. 3. Lack of Research: While providing analogies, one needs to know the concept in detail. They should be prepared for questions with strong technical details.
