1 Define media literacy

I strongly suggest that one ought to use the word 'facilitate' instead of the word 'teach', because teaching implies a top down process that is not learner centered, but TEACHER centered. Thank you.

Media literacy is gradually becoming a new shift to teaching and learning activity. It is important for students to know media literacy to make learning to be learner- centred. In as much as media literacy can be a new ride for our learners, teacher needs to be sensitive ,to ascertain set behavioral objectives and overall goal are achieved. Students may be distracted,or carried away totally,learning strange and weird things because of exposure to media skills,media technology,media outlets,mode of communication, information skills,contents creation and a whole lot. Students should be exposed to fact checking while achieving zero tolerance to fake news, rumours,disinformation and misinformation.

In today's world where a lot of emphasis is on Artificial intelligence and use of social media accounts the students first need to understand its use. They should understand that the material available needs to be studied carefully and then it should be used. They should explore their target audience and understand the purpose of connecting with them. Every place and person can have a different need. Their engagements should avoid raw information and unverified sources. There's so much research work available to give students a basic understanding and a platform to start with. While creating a content or an article the students should focus on cultural aspects too. The pros and cons can't be written off.
