Listening to their concerns and opinions is another important point to consider. Giving feedback when required is a fundamental insight. Finally, promoting a balance between work and personal life is vital, so it is necessary to define schedules for meetings, customer service, allowing a digital disconnection helps the well-being of remote employees.

Remote work brings many challenges and opportunities for internal communications. Companies need to use multitude of channels to reach the employees and drive their message while competing with external distraction factors (such as home environment, poor internet connection, etc.). Since all of us at some point would have experienced working remotely , specially in the pandemic ; here are a few things to focus on: 1 . Connect via a mix of static , audio & video channels : Podcasts , Videos , town halls , Mobile app, emails, Intranet, 1:1s etc 2. Keep the communication simple, clear & give supporting FAQs where needed. 3 . Ensure leadership stays in touch 4. Provide a platform to resolve queries & take feedback 5. Organisations should Invest in a platform where in remote employees can share data with ease. 6. Burnout is quick , hence keep a check on the online calls duration. 7. Be mind full of time zones 8. Don't overdo on the wellness & wellbeing initiatives 9. Ensure recognition programs are in place

You support and value remote colleagues in exactly the same way you do those based in the office. Building trust is critical, understand what they need from you, how they like to work, what their communication preferences are, how often they would like you to check in. Create an open two-way conversation and include them. Remember to set meetings which work for them, include them in team-wide messages and brainstorms. The fastest way to alienate remote colleagues is if they feel disconnected.

I feel in good time and a pattern of positive results, I would want to meet this remote employee/person face to face to put a name with a face and show my gratitude for such great efforts and reward those efforts by giving them a bonus while getting to know them and their family if they have one and to keep them inspired. And to seek their opinions on future business!
