Just bit of my worthless thought. Yes, it's important to be selfless. Especially when colleagues have come out with a good plan which you think is feasible and beneficial to the company. We ought to support and give a hand to realize. Considering to aid your colleague, we can deduce simple process flow to cater for colleague's new approach of improvisation to within and or outside production shop floor (inventory, utilities, administrative facility). A subsequent approach is to add in cause and effect analyses within the mentioned process flow. This will certainly help draw a clearer picture for all because it's easier for one to make intervention into the existing proposal. P. S. Always think humanitarianism before automating.

Just bit of my worthless thought Yes, Always there's a request then only a demand. This is not just the concept of business but similar in the working environment everywhere. Do not create unnecessary provoke which is negative just to impress your superior. You never know it may be catastrophic. However there's always the positive side if this is carried out at the request and discretion of your superior. Always understand opportunities always arise in mere common conversation within and or outside of meetings. And always understand problems always give rise to opportunities. Especially problems which can cause safety hazards and waste of unnecessary expenses. P. S. Always think humanitarianism before automating.

Just bit of my worthless thought. Yes, Boss would appreciate problem solver. All existing problems to prioritize are those which can cause hazardous incidents, and or cause losses financially. This may include process within and or outside production shop floor (inventory, utilities, administrative facility). Less severe problems if do not raise the 2 incidents above, can be solved later. Secondly, one must always have initiative to innovate to improvise production be it in safety enhancement and or processes within and or outside of shop floor. Key to innovate always to put safety as priority no matter if it involves additional costs. Saving is secondary. P. S. Always think humanitarianism before automating.

I myself believe that the first thing to do when you aim for a promotion is evaluate the function you aim to reach, and understand the necessary hard and soft skills, scope and deliveries which are expected by professionals in this job. Once you understand that, map your gaps and fulfill them. Then I believe you should first start delivering results as someone in this role would deliver: deliver results, before you seek the promotion itself.

Here are some of the ways: 1. Showcase the work you have done. Especially the numbers i.e. No. of FTEs saved, Annual hours saved, Annual Capacity created, etc. 2. Show appreciations you have received from different business units. Also if possible get some recommendations from senior people within the organisation. 3. What you have learned from past year to the current year. 4. Highlight the situation where you were always available during critical times.
