2 Asymmetric encryption

Asymmetric encryption is the opposite of symmetric encryption, where different keys are used to encrypt and decrypt data. One key is public and can be shared with anyone, while the other key is private and must be kept secret. 3 Hybrid encryption

In healthcare IoT, imagine securing patient health data sent between devices and the central server like sending a secret letter. Each device and the server have a unique way to lock (encrypt) and unlock (decrypt) the letter. When a new device joins, it sends a special lock (asymmetric key) to the server, who uses its secret key to unlock and get a shared secret key (symmetric key). This shared key then acts like a secret code for the devices and server to securely talk, ensuring the privacy of patient information. At the end of each conversation, they discard this secret code and create a new one for the next chat. It's like changing locks for every secret letter, keeping the healthcare talks private and secure.

4 Homomorphic encryption

Homomorphic encryption is a cutting-edge encryption method, where data can be processed and analyzed without being decrypted. This means that IoT devices can send encrypted data to cloud servers or other devices, and receive encrypted results, without exposing their data or compromising their privacy. Homomorphic encryption is especially useful for IoT applications that involve sensitive data, such as healthcare, finance, or smart cities. However, homomorphic encryption is also very challenging and costly to implement, as it requires advanced mathematical techniques and high computational resources. Some of the most promising homomorphic encryption schemes are BGV, FV, and CKKS.

Homomorphic encryption is like your data is wearing an invisibility cloak before being sent to the cloud. Your fitness tracker becomes Harry Potter wearing the invisibility cloak, encrypting your heart rate, steps, and sleep patterns into an unreadable language only the cloud can understand. The the cloud does its magic analysis and sends back insights, still wrapped in the invisibility cloak.
