Three types of QoS are in trend: 1. best effort method 2.Diffservs - differentiated services 3.Integrated services Video signals are HD in nature and demands larger bandwidth requirements. It's also real time . So any kind of freezing ( intermittent disruption) is non-tolerable.It can affect the customers experience greatly specially when user is watching real time programs(live news/matches/ musical event etc).

The best way to apply QoS on IP video traffic is the dedicated line profile to the associated port at the switch.For example, if user has subscribed for IPTV and internet services and 10Mbps line profile is provided then out of 10Mbps, min. 4Mbps must be allocated to IPTV service to avoid any freezing.
