Test everything! I have sat through so several webinars where the host has started the lecture, but no one bothered to turn on the microphones. It doesn't hurt to be over-cautious and do a dry run the day before, and maybe again the morning of, just to make sure your internet is working.

Additionally, extra batteries is always a good idea. Testing equipment before you go, is an absolute must and also know what temperature or environment you're walking into. Extreme cold or heat can wreak havoc on tech and backup batteries, which might mean you may need a third set to offset temperature changes that affect battery life. Also be prepared for weather, rain, snow, etc. Bring protective stuff for your equipment. Also sandbags for extreme wind and always have a plan. B, C, D, E,F,G... Always have a plan b, plan c and plan d. Make sure everyone knows what the plans are when something goes wrong so the audience doesn’t notice technical issues. Everyone on the team should test the backup plans and be prepared to seamlessly execute them. I always had tons of extra content ready to go to buy me enough time to solve whatever problem I faced. Sometimes that content was prepackaged video I could toss too. Other times it was scripts that hosts could read in a teleprompter to “tap dance” and buy time. I would also have adlib topics ready to go so my hosts could chat about something relevant while we fixed technical issues.

I have to fully agree with "prepare for failure to be successful without failure." For me I always setup fail over networking, redundant hosts, even secondary cameras and microphones. I even have approached mission critical events we having pre-recorded material. Just in case a host drops or cannot present, we jump to a recording. In many cases the audience never even knew that we were leveraging an earlier recording.
