How can you prepare for a behavioral interview in BI?

I feel the best preparation for an interview is to spend roughly (5-10) minutes in stillness the day before the interview. No thoughts. Just breath. Come out of that session with a sense of mental focus and purposeful reasoning as to WHY you are choosing this career in this company in the first place. Make a list. Feel the words. Am I truly serious about this path, or is it simply to satisfy some validation? If all instincts and personal needs are aligning in your heart, begin imagining the interview in your mind's eye. Feel the confident authenticity in the vision. Like watching a movie, try to enjoy yourself in the process instead of fearing any outcome. Bottom line, in this life, if it's meant to be it's meant to be. And so it is.

I believe in authenticity, so think about what you have done over the years and use the STAR method to articulate your achievements. Be clear, concise and to the point. Be realistic but also remember you need to articulate your achievements rather than the group “we”. Not easy sometimes, however the more you think through the examples and be clear in your own mind what the situation, task, action and results were the better you will come over.

STAR ~ Trust me these things won't work in business! I mean this straight from a text book (MBA) Why? I said that, Cause, In business I experienced this SWOT,SMART, STAR these things depend on various factors They won't fit for every business So, It's the people right at the moment strategies/analysis/decisions that makes entities successful Then how you describe yourself in interviews; Contribute your insights such as 1.How you contributed to past companies growth 2.How you handle if/any issue in past entity 3.How far can you contribute for your upcoming entity 4.Describe your key takeways how you handle Ex; Manufacturing/Service/product/NGO etc... Note : This won't describe they are useless..

In my experience; STAR metrology is a great approach to outline your story for behaviour based interviews, you will be able with interviewers with valuable information. However, I would personally add 2 further steps about Learning (L) - what’s your learning and what would you do differently and Documenting (D) the learnings for better outcomes over time with evolution of technology and accumulated experiences.

In behavioural interview, I have found it useful translate past experience into how they will benefit the future organisation. This helps the interviewer to connect the dots. Story telling is very useful.

If you are applying to a role of Business Intelligence, I would expect you to understand how the business works. Obviously unless you are coming from the same industry, you probably would not know the details and that is ok, but try to focus on the following: 1.- Understand the industry and its business drivers. Where the money come from? Using 10-K and 10-Q financial reports from the SEC in the same industry would help you a lot. 2.- Understand the company's market position: read press releases, presentations done by the management staff, and so on. You need to know if you want to be there. 3.- Understand the Analytics trends in this industry. Try to prepare questions to ask during the interview to understand the status of the company.

Companies appreciate candidates who demonstrate genuine interest. Dive deep into the organization's goals, values, and recent BI initiatives. Tailor your responses to align with the specific needs of the role.

Bring to the interview some real cases that your skills brought to a new level the analysis, and also think how could the BI were used by the business, if you link your skills with the need of the business, you probably match with the job opportunities.

When you are preparing for this role, look at the responses to questions which highlight the following traits: 1. En mi opinion ser honesto es fundamental en cualquier situacion de la vida. Haría enfasis en ser muy positivo a la hora de comentar los errores, como los vivimos y lo principal ?Que aprendimos de nuestros errores? . Los aprendizajes mas importantes siempre se generar de situaciones dificiles lo que nos permite ir mejorando dia a dia.

En la entrevista debes “ser tu mismo”, no exagerar ni tratar de impresionar con exageraciones que no te van a ayudar. Debes ser honesto y claro. Si los logros de los que haz hablado fueron en equipo, debes de decirlo de esa manera y resaltar tu rol en el equipo. Siempre debes ser positivo durante la entrevista, inclusive con preguntas incómodas, debes buscar siempre el lado positivo .

Highlight learning ability as one may not have all the skills needed but its important to have an ability to learn. Probably highlight that in the answers as well as ask questions that show keenness to seek more challenges within the organization. Example what is company's technological roadmap.

Technical Preparedness Brush up on relevant BI tools and technologies. Industry Trends Stay informed about the latest BI trends and innovations. Communication Skills Practice articulating complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.

Mantenha a calma. Conhecer os métodos ter um bom portfólio e currículo. Sabe falar e ter toda experiência deve ser acompanhada de foco e calma.
