How can you personalize your Life Coaching services to improve retention rates?

Be careful not to overwhelm clients with assessments. Remember they are the expert on themselves and their experience. Do they know their needs, challenges and aspirations, strengths, values, motivations, learning style? That's what needs to happen first.

Assess your clients' needs Before you design a personalized Life Coaching plan for your clients, you need to understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations. You can do this by using various assessment tools, such as surveys, questionnaires, interviews, or tests, that measure their personality, strengths, values, motivations, and learning styles. These tools will help you identify their pain points, goals, and expectations, as well as their preferred modes of communication, feedback, and support.

Remember, your coaching approach needs to work for you too. Consider the frequency, duration, and format that also works for you too.

Don’t detach from who you are, it won’t serve you or your client needs. Let some space for the client to give you a honest feedback about your coaching style. To find the right balance, the first session should be free.

It’s essential to realize that coaching is a conversation, not a template. Show genuine humanity by having a deep conversation and seeing where it goes. You’d be amazed at how much just listening, being real, and asking powerful, improvised questions can accelerate a transformation.

Crete connections by sharing who you are as a person. Using your personal stories will show you are human and therefore you can connect better with your client. Be open about your flaws too, it will only make things easier

In a coaching session, you never want to put yourself in spotlight. It's important to consider how you are framing what you share in session vs something that needs to be shared outside the session or even before the coaching begins.

Micro pieces of content are great ways to help give them some small wins, even when you are not with them. Create a vault or resource library with small (5-20 minute) trainings. Share it with clients or send them a training on occasion so they can have more to think about or work on between calls. It can help with three things. 1. This keeps you top of mind. 2. It helps them stay motivated. 3. They get an extra boost in skills.

Be prepared to offer support, or at least resources, in these interconnected areas. At its core, personalization is about showing genuine care. Regularly check in, not just on the client's progress with their goals but on their well-being. Retention in life coaching is deeply intertwined with perceived value and genuine personalization as it signals that you see the individual, not just the client, and are committed to their unique journey.

First off --- the goal is not to retain clients but empower them through coaching so that they don't need you forever. They develop confidence in themselves. Next, coaching should always be personalized to the person. Coaching is not one-size-fits all. Take time to get to know your client and together design a partnership and coaching plan that works for them.
