To showcase my portfolio to potential clients, I select my best writing and editing samples, format them consistently, and categorise them logically by industry and type of work - this creates a stellar writing and editing portfolio. Formatting your samples consistently keeps them in perfect order. The formatting should be such that it is not only presentable, but also very easy to read, navigate through pages, compare and contrast with other samples thereby adding weight to your portfolio. There are several standard formats available and plethora of tools to this effect for a mesmerizing display of talent in your portfolio!

Categorization makes it easy for the client to pick and choose from only specific genres in which you are adept and hence displaying your strengths and talent to them. It is one of the most important, rather pivotal part of organizing your proofreading portfolio for maximizing the chances of landing more writing jobs.

Tailor the samples to what the client wants. If you are working with a recruiter, ask them what kind of samples the company hiring is looking for and how many samples they want. Go from there. Clearly Label what the samples are when you send them, for example: Quiz_ProofreadingSample, Journal_ProofreadingSample, etc. I personally keep each sample to a page or less. It’s also good to show a couple of interactions you’ve had with the writer/content creator on the sample, and how you’ve made appropriate adjustments based on what they want.
