It's always useful if you build an online community first, so that you know a few people you intend to meet in person. Also, don't only just attend talks, "hallway con" where you meet and chat to other attendees is extremely useful. Prioritise community events over trade shows. A BSides type of conference is much better to connect with people than a show with a large vendor floor such as RSA or Infosec Europe.

Based on my personal experiences, I have discovered that although digital networks provide extensive reach, authentic professional development frequently originates from face-to-face engagements. Participating in expos and conferences has proven to be immensely beneficial for my growth.

Many people often struggle creating their first piece of content, fearing that they don't know what to talk about, or that everyone already knows about that topic. You have your own perspective and so don't talk yourself out of it. You don't even have to have a conclusion, you can share your learning journey, and you will see no matter the topic or the depth to which you go, your content will resonate with some people.

Even in my other community groups and friends, I conduct pro-bono cybersecurity talks to update them of the happenings in Cybersecurity that affects them. Even when there are security issues or updates (for example iPhone updates or patches), I'll message my communities and friends about it, as we're all inter-connected.
