One thing I have found helpful is to clearly communicate what's working and what's not in the current setup with your supervisors. Give them a clear picture of what's your expectation in terms of how you want to handle the job for best results for the team and company in a diplomatic manner. Sometimes, these conversations can be unpleasant but they need to be had.

Negotiating for more job autonomy does not mean that you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want. It means that you can have more influence and choice over your work, within certain boundaries and guidelines. Therefore, you need to be flexible and realistic in your negotiation, not rigid or unrealistic. You need to be willing to compromise and collaborate with your boss or employer, not insist or dictate. You need to be open to feedback and evaluation, not defensive or resistant. You also need to be prepared to accept a partial or gradual increase in autonomy, not expect an immediate or complete change.

Communicate effectively. Autonomy in workplace is about allowing freedom with a clear goal requirement. The reposnsibily of a leader is to clarify the task and the direction, so the emoloyee can mive forward confidently. Set goals. A task is more manageable when there are clear guide and points of progress. But goals are also flexible.
