To contribute effectvelly to the renewable energy market, it is necessary to be open to the a lot of changes that occur, not only in the sector, but also within organizations that grow at high speed and need to make rapid adaptations to not succumb to their own growth. It is necessary to have a short, medium and long-term vision, but above all, it is essential to be adaptable and be quickly to evolving scenarios. Improvement through studies is very welcome! Finally, don't be afraid of exposure, taking responsibility will help you surf this wave and grow quickly, together with the market and companies.

When you are into the res business you need to look out of the current picture/box and your little world/country. You must be in the position to use the experiense from the past and imagine how fast the technology will run and how dramatically the needs of the society/consumers will change in very few years. Other wise, your predictions will be very short and your goals will not cover the real needs of the real future. So dont be afraid to overact to studies, JUST INVEST INTO THE FUTURE THOUGH ITS LOOKS SCARY

Renewables is a fast evolving area with literally 100s of different fields and thousand of organisations from small owner-operators to large corporations as market participants. It is a very competitive market that requires organisations to be nimble, fast and responsive to be relevant. So my bet for vast majority of new people joining the area is that role definition will change ... and more often than not. So do not box yourself in and be mission focussed in your teams and be willing to work and go beyond your role to collaborate and make it happen

Working in a team starts by understanding why the team exists in the first place. If you know why your team exists, then you should start asking yourself what is your role in the team. An easy way to find out is to reflect on your day-to-day functions. What tasks do you find yourself doing? What kind of people do you interact with? Who is managing you and who are you managing? Teams also exist to solve problems or create support. If you have a list of the problems faced by each member of your team, it will be wise to be a good team player and provide them with solutions when you encounter them. This does not mean forgetting your own duties but being on the look out of providing solutions to those who will equally make your life easier.

Knowing our Roles and Responsibilities is well known basic requirements and most importantly know your cross-functional Team and their RACI Matrix. This will give a clear picture how to handle the Projects in required timeline... Not to forget to have a scheduled review meeting with stakeholders for better results.

Understanding how each of them work and its use within a specific electricity market is important to ensure that it serves its function. There have been many cases of jurisdictions favouring certain technology over the rest without looking at aspects such as baseload requirements, merit order, ancillary market and others. 100MW of solar PV does not provide the same energy as 100MW of geothermal power for example. Even if we are focusing on a specific technology, understanding how the others operate are also important in a bigger picture of the wider electricity market.

This nuanced approach is particularly important because other people′s learning style and speed can look very different to your own and you should meet them where they are. Understanding this was an eye-opener for me which allowed me to increase my impact and drive change that lasts naturally.

Part of the celebration should also be the opportunity to look back and learn from project's lesson learned register and pass the knowledge down to the next team. Failures need to be celebrated and the team should always keep an attitude to do deliver a better project than the next one - incremental continuous improvement is key!

Unfortunately, many organizations view renewable energy as an "extra task" or "whenever we can", and not as a basic business element. So, be equipped with life cycle cost analysis. And try to create a future-ready projects for renewable energy. Meaning, design for it if you cannot implement it. Be ready for rapid changes in technologies.

So before considering any costly installations, always assess the materiality of the topic and whether for instance energy consumption is significant to your business when compared to fuel burn. In that case, consider low-carbon fuel alternatives first as they are faster to implement and as effective in reducing your carbon emissions.
