For example, if the team spent 10 hours on interruptions last sprint, they can reserve 10 hours for the Interrupt Buffer this sprint. The team can monitor and adjust the buffer as needed, based on the actual interruptions.

According to me some of the things which when done right would minimise waste are as follows: 1. Story grooming A lot of times story grooming goes with an assumption that the team knows what is required to be done as part of the story, hence the story goes into sprint without proper acceptance criteria which opens it up for each of the stakeholders interpretation hence causing confusion and delays 2. Sprint planning It is important that stories taken into sprint are well thought to address a requirement rather than with an intention to keep the developers busy or clearing the backlog. This leads to stories being delivered which delivers no value to business. 3. Open Dependencies Unmet open dependencies with no known timelines to close

Daily Stand-ups for Progress Tracking - Regular short meetings to track progress and address any roadblocks promptly can save a lot of time. These stand-ups keep the team aligned and quickly resolve issues that could otherwise delay progress. Minimize Context Switching - Encourage team members to focus on a limited number of tasks at a time. I've found that reducing context switching increases productivity and reduces time spent in regaining focus, thereby minimizing time waste during sprints. Effective Sprint Planning - Careful and realistic sprint planning is essential. Allocating tasks based on team capacity and skills ensures that each member is working efficiently.

Minimise scrum ceremonies to the ones, which make sense for your team/project size/structure and sprint duration. If your notice that team spends simmilar amount of time on ceremonies compared to real work - it is clear red flag which must be addressed immediately. Ask who should participate where and why. What benefits it brings and if you can achieve the same knowledge spread by other means. E.g. making decisions in smaller teams and communicating them as part of short morning sync meetings instead of having lenghty grooming sessions for everybody.
