Expressing vulnerability is where I would start. I would be very honest and say that I'm not the best with technology either. This will really help the learner understand that in life we can all find things difficult. Having this approach builds a rapport and makes learning technology seem less daunting. Then it's all about going slowly and giving the learner confidence. From there in a steady way progress can grow.

Giving an instructions will help anyway. They are uncomfortable because they are not aware about it, like how to use it, they might face difficulties. If a proper instructions is provided which could be text, audio, video or screenshot so that they can pick as per thier preferences.

Here something that is so important that most trainers forget is follow up. Check understanding during training and afterwards. Another mistake from 99% of trainers is believing training is complete once the workshop is done. This is not right. 80% of learning takes place with implementation and follow up. It's not that they don't understand how to use it, if you are the expert, you should be able to explain it to learners in a way they can understand. Start with the end in mind. Don't ask what people want to learn. How do you know what you don't know? Instead, ask "how can I make your life easier right now?" If you really do have expertise, you should know what technology can do that, correct? If not, you need to find out yourself before teaching others. It comes down to the question "how do you herd cats?" That depends on where you put their food. But if they don't like the taste of the food, cats don't come back.

When we do corporate training one must really think of the learners. Psychology teaches us to keep them engage one should only present for 20 minutes before doing an activity. This will ensure that concentration is maintained. I have used this technique to keep energy levels high throughout an 8 hour session and it really works.

If you can convince them that they can benefit from using some new technology you have a positive baseline to start with. Other than that it's crucial to provide the learners with direct and personal support. Because you are an expert in the topic you often can't even imagine what the edges are for someone who is not so firm.

The best method for learners who are not comfortable with the technology is to not use it. The emphasis should be on the learner and optimising their learning rather than the technology. If the technology is not the best choice of learning tool it should not be used simply because it is there. F2F teaching I found the most effective and efficient over many years. Ironically I and some of my teaching colleagues who all came from real world industry and/or professionally experienced backgrounds were encouraged to develop and use many early and later on-line and computer based systems. None of them were preferred by students. This was different if they were not given any choice.
