Hey, when you develop slides, just move away from computer screen and see if you can - see :-) Use large fonts, not too much text, de-compose complex graphics ... Some suggest to give away the slides so that people can read - to me, that is another distraction, except if you truly give them some time to read and take notes. I rather see faces looking into me and every now and then to slides on a projecttion screen that into their hand-outs. They can look into the hand-outs ("slide docs", yes, you can give a bit more in hand-outs) after they leav your presentation.
