Communication , Awareness & Criticality of IT Security must be shared among the users and employees. We can use different internal communication mediums to share and aware the employees on the past cases, new upcoming threats . The vital role here is played by the leadership team always . As they communicate and talk about different policies and awareness . They also talk about IT Security / Cybersecurity. This encourages all employees to make sure that we all are following and taking it as a responsibility.

I think it is necessary to update training materials and promptly notify the relevant team. And with that need, there needs to be a training content management process, especially ensuring the integrity of information across multiple courses. Example: we can have different courses for different roles. But all of them have a shared security requirement that is referred from one policy/procedure. So, when there’s an update in that policy/procedure, we must to ensure all related courses are update too.

May be not a very popular opinion, but the traditional security awareness training is not as effective as you think. Instead you can use the "Seeing is believing" concept.. Conduct security awareness sessions where you can demonstrate attack techniques and show the audience how an easy password can be broken via a brute force attack or how clicking on a link can give the attacker full access to a machine.. Many other examples. Also establishing accountability at the leadership level by setting KPIs at the business function level on the % of employees attending and completing the security awareness training.

Keep your content short and to-the-point. Our monthly training is this way and it's no longer than 2-3 minutes. Any longer and you lose the interest of the viewer and that results in any retention of the short session.

Make sure all audience attend the awareness session and understand what is delivered and the important of the session to protect the information assets of organization as well as individual.

Make training mandatory and include it as part of onboarding new employees. There are some organizations where new employees must complete and pass security awareness training before they can access corporate applications.
