For organizations moving toward portability containerization seems to be an obvious evolution. However, for containerization, automation and iac seem to follow closely to realize the value. I would avoid paas offerings and look to a single substrate that goes beyond the hyperscalers. I would look to OpenTofu and opensource tooling for observability , monitoring and non hyperscalers security substrates. There are large ecosystems tied to all of these pillars and allow for careful consideration to avoid lock in .

One thing that I have found helpful is leveraging container as a service and Kubernetes as a service with automation layer allows for better extensibility and is foundational to making Cloud application more portable !
