Proper suspension system inspection is key during scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and services. With the vehicle setting on all four wheels have someone move the steering wheel back and forth approximately 6 in at a medium rate. While they are moving the steering wheel back and forth another technician will look underneath to view any tie rods that have play either moving in and out or side to side, look for radius arm bushings or brackets I-beam bushings or brackets or control arm bushings that move excessively as the person in the vehicle is moving the steering wheel. Also check the steering box and pitman arm and where the steering box mounts to the frame. This helps identify issues that need to be resolved.
