Very good, make sure at least a supervisor knows what to look for, operators come and go and often are inexperienced. Make sure that all repairs are done in a timely manner so as to not disgruntle the operator, they do not want to write up the same thing 20 times.

Keeping a plant clean has helped me catch stress cracks in framework before they became a bigger problem. When things do break during production, being able to identify the issue and get it resolved quickly is the difference of having to shut down production vs getting back up in a timely manner to keep rolling. Another plus is the morale. Your crew will take more pride in their work place instead of having the ‘it’s just a concrete/asphalt plant, it’s gonna be dirty’.

Management needs to be flexible with this. If the equipment needs to be cleaned then you need to give them time to do it. In high production situations it might have to be on overtime.
