Based in my experience of more than 28 years as an educational leader, school boards need to use their jurisdiction for policy development and fiscal responsibility to structure specific expectations to develop relevant curriculum that is engaging to all students in the district. At the same time, it needs to be rooted on international standards with the skills required in the always changing world. Using, for example, PISA as a reference, it could maintain the competitive edge with all other counties around the world.

The purpose of the school should be student/family based through learning and the board should be the ones who created this purpose. Everyone aligned, participating in the creation and very objective in decision making.
