In training and launching projects, we often encounter a group of people who don't know each other well; a diverse group from different departments, locations, or companies. In those situations, we use interactive problem solving exercises that turn a group of strangers into a team with a common goal. Typically, something fun, challenging and physical (getting them out of their seats) works really well. Despite their initial self-consciousness, people will engage and quickly work together, motivated by focusing on the goal. As an activity for established teams as well as initial new-team building, this reinforces the skills necessary to achieve goals, adapt to changes, think creatively and collaborate.
