One of the critical elements of vulnerability management is identifying the underlying process failures that lead to falling behind to begin with. Providing better vuln data is great, but vulnerability scans are a LAGGING indicator of the security of your environment. The holes already exist by the time you find them. Using scan data to identify the areas that need more proactive work, better visibility, better tooling, etc. adds incredible value to a vulnerability management program while reducing the cost of the program itself over time as there are fewer vulnerabilities to manage.
