Lo fundamental en la elección de la plataforma adecuada, se trata de tener claro el objetivo que se desea alcanzar. Dada la gran variedad de plataformas con las que contamos hoy en día y que ya ofrecen descubrimiento de activos (anti Shadow-IT), Vulnerability Assessment, Ethical Attack, Credential Exposure o ejercicios de simulación de ransomware, es importante encontrar una plataforma que aúne todas esas capacidades y que sea capaz de relacionar todos los hallazgos encontrados dando una vista contextualizada de las actividades que se han llevado a cabo. Es importante de cara al impacto, validar a que nivel de profundidad puede llegar la herramienta y, sobre todo, el impacto generado durante el ejercicio de la prueba.

Para tener claro el objetivo, se debe definir un alcance claro, lo que involucra hacer un trabajo previo de identificación de activos, aplicaciones o sistemas que deben incluirse en las pruebas de seguridad. Adicionalmente, es importante, asegurar que las pruebas y esfuerzos estén alineados con los riesgos críticos. En línea con el alcance, también debemos asegurarnos que todas las capas de nuestra infraestructura estén cubiertas por las pruebas, incluyendo red, aplicaciones, BBDD, sistemas operativos, etc. Respecto a la frecuencia de las pruebas, cobra vital importancia, poder automatizarlas y llevarlas a una programación regular, de la que podamos obtener una evolución en las mejoras, trimestralmente por ejemplo.

Por eso en soluciones o plataformas que ya nos ofrecen hasta un informe técnico (que involucra activos y datos sensibles) para la remediación en base al ejercicio llevado a cabo, hemos de tratarlo con máxima confidencialidad y con los equipos correspondiente, es decir, con los equipos que puedan llevar a cabo las acciones correctivas sobre las configuraciones, gaps o brechas identificadas.
