How can you help team members improve code quality and resolve conflicts?

Having some rules on the wall will not do the job. You have to enforce the rules because people tend to forget them because they are often super-focused on solving the problem they face, not on the quality. The technology will do the enforcing for you. Set some static code checks in your build pipeline and make sure that those checks are reporting when the score is too low. There are plenty of automatic code checkers that can check on code style (PEP8 alignment), docstring standards and even type checking (when type hints are used). I am referring to Python in here.

The key to this is in enforcing the code standards. Establishing code standards without setting up formatters and code analysers can result in them not being used by certain developers. For each of your repositories, automated tests should be done whenever a pull request is made to ensure the requested changes follow the established standards. If the changes don't match the standards, they shouldn't be accepted. An alternative solution is to have a tool automatically format and push the code when changes are made. This might be preferable for some people since it doesn't require manual intervention. However, manual intervention might be preferred if you'd like to handle changes on a case by case basis.

Code Reviews also become an important record of the changes made in the codebase. The conversations and feedback revolving around the change provide context later on when revisiting the changes, especially when its a new team member looking at these changes.

In my team, regular code reviews have been invaluable. They foster collaboration, uncover potential issues, and allow for knowledge sharing, ultimately enhancing code quality.

Code reviews should be comprehensive, reviewers should be flexible. Reviewers should be prepared to spend time and energy on code review to pick apart the implementation, but be prepared to ensure not all comments are addressed immediately, perhaps because of time or complexity issues.

Emphasize principles such as respect, constructiveness, specificity, and timeliness in code reviews, creating a positive and productive environment. Consider establishing guidelines for code review expectations and integrating feedback loops to continually improve the review process and overall code quality.

The review stage is very important and it also has to be enforced somehow. It depends on the team agreements but usually, one PR approval is ok. Here comes the issue, the developers tend to blindly approve PRs. So to have constructive reviews you need a mix of culture and enforced checks. To cultivate the right mindset within the team, you have to advocate the "WHY". The "why" that works for me is: "I've put some effort into this and I don't let anyone by mistake introduce bad stuff".

Communication is essential. To be able to understand every edge of the process of the development, each individual should communicate clearly in a professional manner, without any biased thoughts.

When coding is a concern, if a developer can explain his piece to other Developer, it's easy to work in pair programming mode.

Not always obvious, but embracing feedback can be transformational. I've learned to view critiques as opportunities for growth, leading to iterative improvements in both my code and problem-solving skills.

Two of the most crippling and detrimental characteristics that we as humans unfortunately have, are pride & ego. Don't get me wrong, we should feel proud of our work, but not to the point where you get mad/upset/angry when someone points out even the tiniest flaw. With that amount of pride also comes an over-inflated ego. This ego places blinders/blinkers on our ability to grow by causing the following: 1) Not allowing us to see someone else's criticisms of our work therefore failing to acknowledge their validity 2) Allowing us to see the problem from a new set of eyes. Let's remember that in Software Engineering, there's more than one way to go solve a problem Detaching ourselves from both pride and ego is the best thing we will ever do.
