How can you get effective feedback on your MVP?

Hope the following pointers will help to plan the constructive feedback session and close loop CTAs: 1) Clear indicators of what objective has been achieved to reach the end goal 2) Plan to include the right audience that is impacted by the product/solution 3) Plan your engagement sessions effectively to get clear and to-the-point feedback, avoiding gold-plating and scope creeps of course 4) Having the data analytics-backed MVP demo is always recommended 5) Iterate and improve 6) Test the improved version and monitor 7) Repeat from step #1 - 6

Curiosity should be your driving force while testing your minimal viable product. Clear communication on the intent of the product will unlock valuable feedback. And also be open to negative feedbacks and dive deeper to understand their perspective by asking follow up questions. One must observe and listen to user's perspectives and try to draw insights from them. Most importantly one must seek response out of curiosity not validate something that which they already know or believe.

If you want real feedback, go to someone who is not an advocate and try and change their mind. It’s much more effective than going along to someone who loves everything you do

A very good approach is doing offline user testing, it's very nice to see how a person is using your product. You understand what is confusing, misleading and you can ask questions more personal in order for the user to be honest in his feedback.

one advice I received years ago was to go to your "no sayers". those who challenge you, those who tell you that your idea will not fly, why they would not invest time nor money in your idea. this will sharpen your business idea .. or you realise that your idea is indeed not viable !

When you want to validate a hypothesis you have to understand how people did their job in the past not what they will do in the future, because people in the future they see themself in a very optimistic way. So the right questions are related with their past self, past activities, past stories.

One tip I’ve heard from multiple experts is to start with “Qualitative” (open-ended interviews), and then scale to “Quantitative” (surveys). When it comes to discovering whether your MVP (and its underlying assumptions) are on track, use “qual” to figure out what you really need to know (What’s most ambiguous? What’s most concerning?) Then design your “quant” study to confirm hunches or observed patterns at scale. 10 in-depth in-person interviews are worth 1,000 survey responses. And no “quantity” of boring data will unearth the real barriers / problems / jobs to be done. For that, you must observe and interview real people. Surveys and quantity have a role, but often these are used instead of doing the “scary” yet rewarding “qual” work.
