DR setup for existing cloud based infrastructure consider so many parameter , what kind of application/ service your cloud based infra provide , RTO- once disaster occurs how much downtime is sustainable for your bussiness , RPO - how much data lost can be considered . So based on running infrastructure we need to identify above parameters and need to design DR setup as per organization budget . Many cloud service provider provide managed DR in their existing service with additional cost . So people need to consider all above parameters for DR setup.

There are various native services which are offered by the cloud providers which cater to high availability of the resources and the data. That effectively means that your application will be deployed in two or three data centres which will be nearby in one geographic area. Depending upon the criticality of workload you can choose to have either active active configuration or a hot standby and define your recovery time objective and recovery point objective for correctly setting up DC - DR for the applications.

Before adopting DR setup for our application infrastructure we need to check other paramer like other customers reviews , success rates , SLA . As Disaster occurs only the DRsetup will be responsible for running bussiness so before setup need to verify reliability of disaster recovery service .

You should start the project validation and feasibility with the budget available first, and with the feasible amount of requirements second, and fine tune the solution between them. In this way you choose the solution from the market place as a third stage and technical validation and integration as the fourth stage. You never start with the product to adapt the project to it. This is only the vendor's strategy to make you buy what they want.
