How can you find clients as a self-employed consultant in Servant Leadership?

One piece of advice I recently received that has been interesting to ponder is this: It's easy to get caught up making sure our prospective clients have a full and complete understanding of us and what we do - you know, so we're certain that they really SEE us and our value. What's possible if you flip that script? Chances are, when your prospective client is really clear that YOU see THEM, you'll find that they'll start to see themselves in you. What do you need to do to ensure that you're meeting them where they are and really seeing them and their situation with empathy?

These rules apply to any type of consulting work; being a servant leader is a characteristic of human behavior and not a role or title. The ultimate effective servant leader will have their work speak for itself. Those that have worked with and for a servant leader provide an endless pipeline of potential clients as they move and work in different industries and sectors.

If you are just starting build a client/ prospect matrix. Down one side , write out the companies you want to engage with or are working with and the decision maker. Across the other side build a column for each of the services you offer.. Now go research each of your prospects to find out what they do and which one of your services could help them in their offerings. Then check off the columns that apply for that prospect or for clients who have not used that service .. Write notes on how that service can help their initiatives and some proof points on how it has helped others.. Leadership style has to be situationally matched; servant leadership is one of the styles a leader needs to have in their toolkit. I don’t think you can make a sustainable living specialising in one leadership style; you need a bigger palate.

Identifying your target market is a misconception. The first and most important step for servant leaders seeking clients is to be certain of their purpose. This would help them speak from their hearts and connect with their happy expectant right clients, instead of their mind. Most clients are drawn to emotional reasoning and will be more apt to identify a servant leader who speaks form the heart than from the brain. All other steps mentioned in this article would then develop and find their worth and meaning from this first and most important steps of knowing your purpose.

In my case, I am blessed to have lived, and be living, situations that have allowed me to write books with my testimonies, in various languages, in multiple areas of life, not only in the professional aspect, but also in sports competitions and relationships. relatives. In my case, I am working primarily as a Christian writer and with our organizational experience I have experienced situations where, without any apparent explanation, two people come into contact simply because they saw each other's profile in this important work network. Sometimes it's as simple as seeing a contact and feeling like we should contact them. On some occasions, my business partners, or clients, have reached out to me that way, simply because of the feeling of contacting me.

I try and share valuable content and tips for free and will always do a free diagnosis with a potential client just to make sure there is a fit … on both sides. I then send a video of real live training with the proposal so clients can get a feel for what it will look like .. I throw in a copy of my book as well. I rarely discount my services as it devalues my already valuable offering, having said that , cash is king and I provide a 10 percent discount for any clients that pay up front and have a retainer rate for clients that engage me for a large period of time after an initial training session. In my case, as a writer of Christian books, we offer a monthly portfolio of free books in various languages. From there, some readers become followers and depending on their interest in the topic, they proceed to contact me. Personally, I have seen better customer receptivity from books, compared to networks, and this is because the ideas in books are complete, not summarized like on social networks. Of course, there are those who prefer the immediacy of the networks, however, I have seen how there are clients interested in complete information based on detailed knowledge, thank God I have the blessing of writing experiential books, professionally, also in the sports area and in our family relationships. I found the most powerful awareness tool I created was writing my book. I outlined my process that I train , stories that support it from real life examples in my career, and finally a little checklist at the end of each chapter. I then share it with all of my clients and my prospects and can measure those results from conversion and referrals.
