How can you expand your niche while staying true to yourself?

You got to have a purpose behind your wish to get on a stage. You need to identify that purpose- that would be your niche, and then prepare everything around it. You can of course expand your channels, platforms, etc. but you cannot change your foundation, i.e. your niche purpose. Convey the same message in different styles!

Having tried to be many things all at the same time, let me tell you it doesn't work. Park things. I have refined my core message down for something that feels true to me, fits with my passion and is enjoyable to deliver. If your niche fits with your own personal values and journey you know it, you feel it and you are then it. Once your niche is strong then yes the niche can be expanded but I would suggest this is in the background so you're pitch doesn't become confusing.

I know my core message. So my challenge is to find more audiences that will find my message valuable. For example, I deliver talks on Mental wellbeing and Resilience in the Construction Industry. the same message will work well in mining, oil & gas, transport and logistics, manufacturing and a variety of other industries. The challenge is to get a start in each of those industries.

Understand Your Core Values: Before venturing into new territories, take the time to reflect on what truly matters to you and your brand. Identify your core values and ensure that any new endeavors align with these principles. This will serve as your compass in navigating uncharted waters.

If I think of my story and my offer it has so many dimensions, and I am sure those reading this are the same. Maybe even thinking where do I start. My advice is keep it simple, focussed and not be afraid to say no to those shiny interesting objects that lie on the periphery. These objects are there as tests to see how committed you are. Thank you but not right now.

Engage with Your Community: Stay connected with your existing community and actively engage with them as you expand your niche. Seek feedback, listen to their needs, and involve them in the evolution of your brand. Your loyal followers can be your biggest advocates as you grow. Remember, expanding your niche is not about changing who you are but rather amplifying your strengths and exploring new opportunities that align with your values and vision. Stay authentic, stay focused, and watch your business flourish in new and exciting ways!

Collaborate and Network: Building strategic partnerships and collaborating with like-minded individuals can help you expand your reach and tap into new audiences. Seek out opportunities to connect with others in complementary niches and explore mutually beneficial collaborations.

You can expand your niche but your core values remain the same. So for example, if your core values are around sustainability, integrity, improvement, personal growth, equality, equity etc....you can make this as a bedrock irrespective of what you are speaking about and this way, you are staying true to yourself irrespective of your niche and if uniqueness is one of your values be unique and draw into this. Any one of the values examples I have shared, you can deliver in various areas e.g. green economy, care society, education, personal development, leadership, youth, justice system, housing etc...

Una manera de concebir un buen mensaje es en esta trilogía: 1) Plantear un problema importante, el cual exige una sólida argumentación y el tener historias que lo hagan explícito. 2) Desarrollar las posibles soluciones y los principios que deben tenerse en cuenta en los análisis de ellas. Una vez más, la forma de hacerlo debe basarse en una buena retórica y sustentando los principios que deben tenerse en cuenta. En las problemáticas humanas las ciencias tales como la psicología, la antropología y la sociología, resultan ser muy esclarecedoras. 3) Llegar a una conclusión que recomiende lo mejor y que puedan sustentarse sus beneficios. Esto es similar a la forma como se narran los buenos cuentos.

Embrace Change and Adaptation: Expanding your niche often requires stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing change. Stay open-minded and be willing to adapt to new trends and opportunities while staying true to your authenticity. Remember, growth often comes from discomfort.
