That's very important. We are in a kind of "mixed generation" - we have, at the same time, massive consumption of media on mobile devices, specially vertical films - and in the other hand film directors and production crew raised on 16x9 media consumption and production. It's important to look at the film main target (I.e: Is it a tiktok ad? an IG post?) and derive to other formats from it, but sometimes specific shots must be retaken in the proper framing. Most open gate cameras give better posibilities for 9x16 framing, but film directors must be aware of that and willing to adapt as needed.

Usually we spend a lot of time and resources in the color grading suite, that’s worth it, its the single most important part of the finishing of a project, but a different issue arises: You’re watching your project on optimal conditions …timed lighting, precision monitors, everything’s perfect for the optimal watching experience, but there’s zero chance your average TV or stream viewer has those same great conditions. What to do? Make sure you test the hell out of your master. Try watching on a cellphone. On a standard TV. Test it on different platforms (Youtube, Vimeo, X, IG they all have different compressions). Try a finishing that works for as many screens as you can. It honors all the time & resources you’ve invested on your project.
