Regularly identify potential risks by brainstorming with team members and stakeholders. 2. Assess these risks by analyzing their likelihood and potential impact on project objectives. 3. Continuously monitor identified risks throughout the project lifecycle, keeping an eye on any changes or new developments that may affect their severity or probability. 4. Maintain open communication channels within the team and with stakeholders to promptly address any emerging risks or concerns. 5. Regularly review and update risk registers and mitigation plans to address potential threats to project success.

Conduct interviews with experts and stakeholders to get insights into specific risks associated with the project. 4. All these can help project team to identify major, minor, trivial risks and help them to overcome/ mitigate these.

After identifying potential risks for your project, the next step is to analyze them. Think of it like this: imagine you're planning an outdoor event, and there's a chance of rain. Qualitative analysis involves considering how likely it is to rain and how much it would impact your event – maybe a little rain won't hurt, but a heavy downpour could ruin everything. Quantitative analysis takes it a step further by using numbers to understand the risk – for instance, if there's a 30% chance of rain, what would be the financial impact of rescheduling or setting up tents? By combining both approaches, you can prioritize risks and focus on managing the ones that could cause the most damage or offer the most opportunity for your project's success.

As a Project Manager for digital products in the ecommerce sector, I propose some strategies for risk analysis: 1 - Introduce a dedicated documentation process during each sprint (agile frameworks), focusing on risks. This initiative will familiarize the team with potential risks and generate insights for future solutions. 2 - Appoint a designated individual to oversee risk monitoring. Usually, we ask for our Quality Assurance developer to take this job. She or he will give us insights that could potentially help in future challenges. 3 - Allocate 15 minutes during our planning meetings to discuss the latest significant technical issues that impact our business. Examing these issues, we can mitigate their impact.

Trying to plan for each and every risk that a project could face is a daunting prospect. Instead, consider how the risks would impact your project and develop a continuity plan for each. Impacts on projects come in three forms: -- Disruptions to Personnel: This occurs when normal personnel are unavailable or if there is a need to rapidly increase the personnel on the project. -- Disruptions to Facilities: This occurs when the normal location where work is performed is unavailable. -- Disruptions to Resources: This comes from access to supplies and equipment, money, or technology. Thinking about the three ways impacts of a risk event on your project simplifies the planning since you are preparing to respond to the specific disruption.

Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks proactively. Consider preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of risk occurrence and contingency plans to minimize the impact of risks if they materialize.

Implement risk responses according to the mitigation strategies outlined in the risk management plan. Assign responsibilities for executing risk responses and monitor progress to ensure timely and effective implementation.

Continuously monitor identified risks throughout the project lifecycle to track changes in risk exposure and assess the effectiveness of risk responses. Use risk registers, dashboards, or other tools to track and manage risks systematically.

The risk management process must be aligned with the project management process followed in the projects. The total risk score resulting from the process of identifying, analyzing and managing risks gives an idea about the real status of the project. Normally, the risk score is at its highest at the beginning of the project and is expected to tend to decrease as time progresses. Sudden increases in the Risk score during the project process are a significant threat to the success of the project. If there are major discrepancies between the project risk score and the status of the project, it is important for both parties to examine the process and take the necessary corrective measures for the healthy completion of the project.

All risks that are related to any project should be well defined before starting a new project. There should be a constant process of evaluating a project's progress and reporting of the status . Evaluation process should be proactive and take place before a risk take place and should be well communicated with the stakeholders in order to set the action(s) that would avoid the risk having any impact on the project. Therefore , measuring , reporting , evaluating and actionning are all important steps along the way of a project's execution.

I've always advocated the need for a Risk Register, even if a project seems "familiar" or "BAU", especially to seasoned project managers. As with every other document prepared by a PMO, a Risk Register runs the risk of becoming more "form over substance". Acknowledging this as a "project management risk" is a good start for any project. Once the Risk Register has been updated (by answering "what can go wrong?" for every possible aspect of the project), it must be ensured that the risks, along with their indicators, interactions, and possible remediation plans must be communicated to those who need to know such details. Responsibility must also be assigned to ensure the Risk Register is updated as and when needed.

Risk management is a crucial process and should be ensured at every step during project implementation. For it to be a continuous process, the risk identification, planning and the rest of the steps should be an iterative process. Risks should be identified at the level of every project activity. The team should constantly hold after-action reviews during which the different risks holders discuss progress monitoring on risk, risks that are occurring, those that have passed but may reoccur or showing signs of recurring, new risks identified etc. Every team member should be an "active risk watchman" for risk management to be a continuous process and successful process.
