Unless it is really necessary, avoid using too sophisticated protocols or methods with specific features. REST/RPC with JSON or Multipart is usually enough for everything. Even HTTPS, HTTP/2, or HTTP/3 features often optional for inter-service communications. There is a lot of libraries for JSON, and REST/RPC is very flexible that it can acommodate a lot of use cases. Even protobuf is sometimes optional and too sophisticaed in some cases. If performance is what you are after, try to ensure your architecture is designed with performance mindset instead of having to rely on specific protocols. The combination of REST/RPC with JSON is usually simple and universal enough that you can use with frontend or webservice use cases.

2 Document your APIs

Another key factor for interoperability is documenting your APIs. APIs are the interfaces that expose your back-end functionality and data to other systems. Documenting the APIs is usefull for the frontend developers to test and implement the API in their code without waiting for the knowledge of the backend developer to provide the API guidance. And also documentation should include the version of the API and endpoints that making different types of request methods like GET,POST. We cam able to document the API using SWAGGER, POSTMAN API DOCUMENTATION TOOL, INSOMANIA TOOL and etc..

12-factors app is the mindset to look for. This mindset aids in designing a good microservice that is portable and is interoperable with a lot of other components in the system. When designing a microservice, the choice of framework is only a little part of what microservice is. The most important thing is the design of the architecture itself, which in practice translates to the design of API each microservice offers. Good microservice architecture is achieved by both good per service API/architecture design coupled with the 12-factors app mindset.
