Testing is very important step on SDLC. Be it Unit testing, system testing, integration etc. The more automated the tests, the better chances of defects not occuring. To ensure the automation is done properly, following BDD or TDD approach is really the best. If one implements any new feature, before starting with the implementation, creation and discussion of various BDD scenarios and getting the same discussed and approved with required business partners, PM etc is crucial. And ensuring that all the required BDD scenarios automated in one way or other is important. That way if any defect come, it gets easier for one to verify whether it was a miss in the requirement or testing. And of course, defect scenario should also be automated.
