I often direct AND edit, and one thing I do in the field to make the editor version of me happy is, shoot a teleprompter shot in wide, medium and close up. Let the actor/talent know you are doing this to break up the shot and give them a chance to memorize little chunks of dialogue on the prompter. Now, the editor isn’t likely to cut back to the wide in the edit bay, so you can just shoot the wide for the first chunk, but get the medium and close up for the whole run. The audience will perceive less actor/talent eye movement reading back and forth if there is more cuts, and it generally keeps the audience engaged. I don’t love the side angle because suddenly the talent isn’t looking directly at the camera and it disengages the audience.
