Editing and proofreading with precision and creativity is a dynamic balancing act. Firstly, I approach the text with a meticulous eye for detail. I scour for grammatical errors, typos, and inconsistencies, ensuring a flawless foundation. But here's where the magic happens: creativity. I don't just correct; I enhance. I rephrase for clarity and finesse, injecting a dash of creativity that elevates the copy. I make my copies dance, crafting a narrative that captivates readers. My secret? A passion for words and an understanding of their power. I treat each document as a canvas, blending precision and creativity to create polished, engaging content that resonates with the audience.

When you read what you've just written, you'll read what you wanted to write down. When you read it out loud, you'll hear the words that are on the page (and find any areas that need updating). Not comfortable reading it out loud? Copy and paste it into Google Translate and play it!

Proofreading and editing your content by yourself has one flaw: because you're too close to what you wrote, you can easily miss typos and overlook grammatical errors. That's why having an external perspective is so invaluable. But in most cases, you may not have another person to review your content. Online tools such as Grammarly and even ChatGPT can fill this gap, offering suggestions and corrections to improve your writing that you may have missed. Aside from proofreading tools, you can also use a text-to-speech reader. Following the text while a voice reads it out loud can not only help you hear what you wrote from a reader's perspective but also spot stylistic inconsistencies you might have missed.

ALWAYS pass your writing along to someone you trust who will give you honest feedback. I call this the "red pen" method. Writers who struggle to handle constructive criticism - this one's for you. Are they pointing out a clarity issue? Think about it...are they right? Even if you disagree, you may both be onto something. Are they highlighting a thing you could be more consistent about? Don't waste time defending yourself. Own it and do better moving forward. Maybe they're asking WHY you've chosen certain words. Try talking through it (they may agree). The point: If you've just graduated, are new to copywriting, or want to get into copywriting, getting a 2nd opinion will be vital to your growth. Pick your battles and listen to learn.

Not only do you deserve to take a break, you should! When I'm on a writing roll, there's no stopping me, however, when I find that I've been staring at the same word...sentence...doc...blinking cursor...etc. for far too long, it's time to take a break. Read an interesting article you've bookmarked, take your dog for a short walk, pet the cat (iykyk), or tackle that load of laundry you've been putting off. Whatever you decide, do it for about 15 minutes before jumping back in. You could even pair your break with a bit of self-reflection. PSA: Talking to yourself doesn't make you "crazy". It makes you your own best problem-solver.

I always find going away from a piece of writing - be it for 15 minutes or overnight - then reading with fresh eyes gives me better insights into what needs to be deleted or rephrased. It stops you being too close to the subject and makes you more objective when re-reading it.
