1 Understand your purpose

As a consultant, you need to have a clear and compelling purpose for your work, beyond just making money or completing projects. Within this philosophy, what matters is how much you can improve the others, a servant is in this case also an enabler. As a consultant, focus on the value you generate to make the others more efficient, respecting their individual needs. As a consultant, since you do not organically manage the teams you will support, this becomes particularly effective.

One thing I found helpful is to understand your consulting service has a trust of another in finding the other best way of doing something or answer to the unanswered question of the community. Be there at service but not a sacrifice so you too may be preserve your own business and serve more in another's life in the community.

2 Listen actively

Listening is one of the most important skills for a consultant, and a servant leader. Listening actively means paying attention to what others are saying, not just the words, but also the emotions, motivations, and concerns behind them. Listening actively also means asking open-ended questions, clarifying understanding, and providing feedback. A servant leader listens to understand, not to judge, argue, or impose their own agenda. Listening actively can help you build rapport, empathy, and trust with your clients, and also discover their needs, expectations, and preferences.

Be a good person reader. That does not imply being fast in understanding. It implies reading beyond the superficial, beyond the words if necessary. Understanding deeply the person is one of the best ways for you to unleash the potential within, given that the meaningful connection established generates empathy, which leads to increased motivation and improved productivity.

A servant leader does not micromanage, dictate, or dominate others, but rather empowers them to take ownership, responsibility, and initiative for their own work and learning. A servant leader supports others by providing guidance, coaching, mentoring, and resources, but also by giving them autonomy, flexibility, and freedom to make decisions and express their ideas. A servant leader also encourages others to develop their skills, talents, and potential, and to pursue their goals and aspirations. Couldnt agree more with what is being stated. A servant leader enables confidence and trust and ensures the team has the adequate conditions to thrive. Not by micromanaging, but be empowerment. Providing a blanket for mistakes, but still providing demand, objectives and direction.

Collaboration is essential for a consultant, as you often work with different teams, stakeholders, and partners on various projects and tasks. A servant leader fosters a culture of collaboration by creating a shared vision, setting clear goals and expectations, and facilitating communication and feedback. A servant leader also promotes a positive and respectful team spirit, by recognizing and appreciating the contributions of others, celebrating successes, and resolving conflicts constructively. A servant leader also seeks to learn from others, by soliciting and accepting feedback, acknowledging mistakes, and embracing diversity and differences.
