A few general principles I have observed across multiple ERP implementations: 1. Adults learn best with hands-on training on the real system with real data. One hour of user-training with the student doing real, day-in-the-life tasks is worth 10 hours of watching an instructor following a happy-path demonstration. 2. Some people are early-adopters and love to solve problems. These people should be involved with the implementation early on and serve as allies/champions with end-users for the training process. 3. It is critically important to make smart decisions about changing processes to fit the system versus trying to configure/customize the system to accommodate existing processes. This will greatly impact training effectiveness.

4 Implement and evaluate your training

The final step is to implement and evaluate your ERP user training, ensuring that it meets the needs and expectations of your audience and stakeholders. You should plan and schedule your training sessions, communicate and promote your training program, provide access and support to your learners, and monitor and track their progress and performance. You should also collect and analyze feedback and data from your learners, trainers, managers, and other sources to measure the effectiveness and impact of your training program. You should use this information to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your training program, and make improvements and adjustments as needed.
