How can you create a strategic plan that meets the needs of all stakeholders in academia?

The higher education industry is very unique in the sense that there are multiple stakeholders in place and there is a constant battle between each other for power, funding, and the division of work. In this type of dynamic, having a solidified goal as a foundation for the institution or department is ideal. Faculty, staff, students, and the board of trustees all have their own personal goals within the higher education industry. Having a proper mission statement on an organizational level helps to create less conflict and help all negotiating parties band together for common effort.

Utilizing community-centered design thinking strategies when planning can ensure that all stakeholders are included in all parts of the process. Often when thinking about stakeholder engagement focus groups and surveys are the go-to strategy. However, I have found that incorporating the voices of the stakeholders from the beginning until the end of the project is the best strategy. With frequent touchpoints with the stakeholders, there is little opportunity for misconstruing their desires. We have to remember that the stakeholder is living with the challenge that we are trying to solve. Because this is the case they need to be involved in all aspects at all times. That being said, they should be paid for the knowledge they contribute.

1. Identify and analyze the various stakeholders involved in the academic institution. 2. Involve key stakeholders in the strategic planning process. This can be achieved through focus groups, surveys, town hall meetings, or advisory committees. 3. Clearly articulate the mission and vision of the academic institution. 4. Develop specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) objectives that align with the mission and vision. 5. Foster a culture of collaboration and openness, encouraging ongoing dialogue. 6. Allocate resources, including budget and personnel, in alignment with the strategic priorities identified by stakeholders. 7. Encourage a culture of innovation and adaptability.

We need to involve every stakeholder in the discussion and decision making process to make it more vibrant and more relevant. In academia service delivery (Faculty) and Service takers (Students) and Staff (Catalysts) are the key components and we need to give due importance to each and everybody's views. In strategic development Board and Alumni and Recruiters also play a very crucial role so making a right mix will bring out extraordinary results.

MIT, for instance, has collaborated with technology leaders to integrate artificial intelligence into its educational vision (MIT News, 2019). As an innovation expert, I suggest establishing strategic partnerships to co-create a mission and vision reflecting a commitment to global challenges. By expanding our horizons and seeking unexpected collaborators, our missions and visions will become true reflections of the world's demands and challenges.

Self actualisation or raization is one of the most critical job for anyone.It is important to have indicative critics for effective evaluation and to refine your future actions.

Even though you have evaluated your goals and objectives you should continue to re evaluate what has worked and what needs changed. I don’t believe there is any such thing as failure. You are just continually trying to improve to be better.

La realización de un plan estratégico es alcanzable, lo que representa un reto es la ejecución y logro de los objetivos. Estos últimos se ven seriamente afectados por la los mandos medios, componente operativo y ambiente externo de la institución educativa, porque, si bien, el plan estratégico puede tener toda la buena intención y es viable a nivel macro, es en la parte micro donde exige un trabajo denodado. Por lo que, es mi recomendación, se conozca a la perfección el funcionamiento de la institución y se puedan generar trabajos de reingenieria apoyados en simulaciones de los procesos existentes para, en primera instancia, los costes en los que se incurrirá y estimar los beneficios que logrará la institución con su implementación.

As an expert in creativity and innovation, I suggest promoting an environment where experimental thinking is the norm. By creating these spaces, we're not just fostering innovation; we're also preparing to lead the knowledge of the future.
