This can be helpful. However, I also ascribe to the philosophy that the theatre is an empty box and it is the duty of the company to fill it with revolution, passion, and fury. In other words, as much as this can be a duty given to the scenic designer, the responsibility of 'creating the world of the play' should always first fall upon the actors and playwright. The playwright provides the words that create the scene and the actors, regardless of whether they are interacting with material objects or imaginary ones, find ways of engaging with that environment. If these two things are done, the spectator is sure to engage with the world of the play, even if it is all imaginary.

Of course. Perhaps a rotating platform is desirable for the specific show that one is producing. However, if one does not have the time or resources to install a rotating platform in the stage, an alternative solution becomes necessary. And safety is also paramount. If it is not safe, it should not be built. As such, I think it fair to say that most of the work identifying limits should be done during the conceptual and planning stages of scenic design for a given production.

It's really important to set out expectations while also addressing the realities from the get go. Having a clear plan that details and outlined certain keep moments in the play this is more important that's blowing an entire budget on one area of the play just for a quick visual effect
