For me you should always look to finish with active participation from your group of audience. Get people doing something, which you have set up over the course of the workshop and which has meaning in both an immediate task based (lets achieve this together) way and also a wider perhaps metaphorical way (consider what this collective action could mean outside of here). Focussing on connections - be they with yourself, with others or with the idea, is also a useful strategy to getting your audience or group to focus in on important and positive take aways from the event.

In my experience the resources sharing at discussing topics is more effective than sharing at the end. That way it is not overwhelming at closing also, more the chances that resource sites etc are referred right away when learner are engaged with the topic.
