How can you create effective technical demos for customers?

Throughout my professional career I have had to do perhaps more than a hundred technical demonstrations, so at some point I thought I knew everything about it, but the most recent one teached me that nothing should be taken for granted. It turns out that the guy we presented a technology solution to was a cybersecurity expert and the kind of questions he asked never crossed our minds, so from having a mastered and one hundred percent successful demo, we realized that we were not remotely prepared for this kind of audience. The moral of the story is that before you schedule a demonstration, ask the audience what they expect, so you at least have time to prepare better.

Highlight the most important features and benefits, and explain how your product addresses their pain points. 5. Tell a story: Structure your demo as a story or narrative that engages and captivates your customers. Start with a relatable scenario or problem, demonstrate how your product provides a solution, and end with a strong conclusion that leaves a lasting impression.

Quieren entender la teoría o pisar el acelerador? ??En qué áreas o procesos les interesa profundizar especialmente? Esto te dará pistas sobre el lenguaje adecuado y nivel de detalle. ?? Whether it's showcasing a specific feature, solving a problem, or demonstrating the benefits of your product, clear objectives will help you stay focused and deliver a compelling demonstration 3. Prepare and rehearse: Plan and prepare your demo thoroughly in advance. Familiarize yourself with the product or service you are showcasing, create a structured outline, and practice delivering the demo multiple times to ensure smooth execution

The best technical demos I have witnessed are the ones where the folks doing the demo already have the endgame in mind, and they work backwards to plan it. There is nothing wrong with asking the prospective client in the previous discovery session(s) “what would your perfect demo look like ?” If you know the answer to this, the technical demo script practically writes itself. Finally, the demo should end with a crescendo. Think Steve Jobs and “one more thing…”

When I prepare for a demo I start with with understanding of the pain areas and why they need the product and accordingly I plan my demo. Now according to the time I have, I showcase the features. Whether I need to focus on feature where they have pain areas, or on Key features or Detailed Demo. Whenever I am covering those points where customer have problem, I will highlight them with, personalized story & example and explain how this product will solve their problem. Apart from that, it is necessary that you create one or 2 product or Flow on the demo related your customers product like so when you present it they can relate with solution easily.

Why all this effort? It's about making sure they don't just see the product; they see how it's their solution, crafted to fit seamlessly into their world. It's a bit of storytelling, a bit of showcasing, and a whole lot of making sure they leave not just impressed, but with a genuine understanding of how our product is their problem-solving sidekick.

Durante todo el proceso de venta. Creo un panorama donde el prospecto ya es cliente. Le describo escenarios donde la solución que ofrezco, resuelve sus necesidades. Así el proceso de cierre es mucho más sencillo. "?Recuerdas lo que te comenté en determinado caso?"; "Aqui es donde entra nuestra solución, estos son los entregables y te sirve para esto:"

Relevance of Features and attempt to convert to Benefits to cover most if not all audience members 4. Interactivity or hands-on 5. Storytelling and Case studies 6. Visual Appeal and Design 7. Customization and Personalization at least for the most important audience members 8. Technical Stability - test, test, test 9. Training and Support Materials - post demo. At least a basic handout will help memory retention 10. Feedback and Adaptability - during and post demo
